Dew Tour Copper Mountain 2023 had a great showing on Saturday, then on Sunday there was more to come.

To start the day, Ayumu Hirano from Japan and Taylor Gold from the United States found themselves in uncharted waters at the bottom of the rankings. Hirano couldn’t land his first two runs and Gold somehow not able to land his first three. They both recovered and took home 1st and 2nd respectively. Ayumu was “in the zone”, that his fellow countryman, Raibu Katayama stepped up as his stand-in and said “THAT. WAS. CRAZY.” After Hirano’s 4th and final run.

In Men’s & Women’s Ski and Snowboard Superpipe High AIr & Best Trick Jam, there was a combined field of both men’s and women’s riders. There was no point system or anything like that. Just a lot of cash being handed out to those who put on a show. By “those”, we mean everyone, because this was an unforgettable event. Someone asked 11-year old Patti Zhou what she would do if she won money for any award and she said “I’m going to buy my coach some tequila”. No, 11 year-olds do not drink at any event we go to. We’d be concerned if that were the case. Nonetheless, it was the funniest comment of the entire weekend.

Back to the Super Streetstyle course, it was time for Women’s Ski Super Streetstyle. Lisa Zimmerman took home 1st place, improving upon her previous runs and leaving her competitors in the dust. Marion Balsamo finished in second place and Skye Clark took home third. In the Men’s Snowboard Super Streetstyle, local talent and hometown favorite Red Gerard had to pull out as he is battling a bad cold. If you want to hear our interview with Red Gerard, check out the podcast and even our video too.

LJ Hernriquez nearly made it to the Finals, after knocking out Olympian Darcy Sharpe. After a lot of action on the course, Nate Haust took home 1st. He reached into his bag of tricks, dicing up the course with a 450 to a committed switch backside 180 to 50/50, before clearing the last rail with a 270 pop out. That’s one way to finish off the night, and the event as a whole.

Dew Tour 2023 was more than just a competition. It was also a celebration of the snow sports community, bringing together athletes, fans, and industry insiders for a weekend of fun and camaraderie.

From start to finish, the atmosphere was electric, with everyone united in their passion for snowboarding and skiing. There were plenty of opportunities to meet and interact with the athletes, as well as check out the latest gear and equipment. It was an unforgettable experience for all who attended.

It was unforgettable for us at SR too. Our thanks to the media team who did a phenomenal job coordinating interviews and delivering an incredible event. During our time at Dew Tour, we were able to catch up with Taylor Gold, who won Silver in Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle. After Taylor, Danny Davis stopped by before Chandler lost his voice to talk Avs, becoming a father, filming and, yeah, that snowboarding thing. Finally, local talent Connor Ladd was able to join us to talk skiing at Dew Tour and how life is like as a college kid.

Overall, this year’s Dew Tour was a huge success, providing an exciting and entertaining showcase for snowboarding and skiing, while also bringing together the community that loves these sports so much. It was a weekend filled with thrills, spills, and unforgettable moments, and we can't wait to see what next year’s Dew Tour will have in store for us.
