As part of our 3 day series on Winter X Games Aspen 2023, we are releasing a recap of each day. Our co-founder and all-around great guy Tyler Corbo joined Chandler With Sports on-site in Aspen, Colorado for the 22nd edition of the Aspen Winter X Games.

A weekend of high flying jumps and unique tricks set the stage for a third day in Aspen.

Day 3 was filled with excitement and high-stakes competition. On Sunday, fans were treated to some of the most thrilling events of the entire games.

The Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle event at Winter X Games Aspen 2023 was one of the most highly anticipated events of the games. With some of the best snowboarders in the world competing, the competition was fierce and the stakes were high.

In the end, it was Mark McMorris of Canada who claimed the gold medal, earning his 22nd X Games medal, the most by an athlete at Winter X Games. McMorris’ winning run was filled with incredible tricks, technical prowess, and style, and he was a clear favorite among the judges and the crowd. He overtook Marcus Kleveland (who was trying to become the first Winter X Games athlete to win 3 golds in the same weekend) on the last run by anyone in the event. Mons Røisland of Norway took home bronze. Local kid (wait, he’s not a kid anymore)…ok, local talent Red Gerard, the gold medalist from the 2018 Olympics finished in 4th.

His victory was a testament to his skill and determination, and his impressive display of athleticism left the crowd in awe. McMorris’ triumph marked another great moment in his already illustrious career, and his victory was a fitting end to an unforgettable competition. Color

The other competitors also put on a great show, with each snowboarder bringing their own unique style and flair to the competition. From massive jumps to incredible spins and flips, the Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle event was a truly thrilling and unforgettable experience for all those in attendance.

After snowboard Slopestyle, there were still other great events to watch. Megan Oldham took home her 2nd gold medal of these X Games in the Jeep Women’s Ski Slopestyle. It is her 7th medal overall. She had a colossal right double cork 1260 safety included in her bag of tricks.

After some musical performances at X Fest, it was time for Chipotle Snowboard Knuckle Huck. Someone asked in the media area, “what the huck will happen next?”. Yeah, seriously, it was kind of funny. Marcus Kleveland took home his 2nd gold of the Games, and won the Jeep Best In Snow Award, given to the most outstanding athlete at X Games. He nailed a butter backside 180 Cab double cork 1260 on his final run. Halldor Helagason returned after 13 years away from the Games, he took home silver. Dusty Henricksen finished out his weekend with bronze.

In Men’s Ski Big Air, it came down to the last run. Teal Harle led the way with 96 points out of 100 from his two best runs. Mac Forehand needed a 50 to overtake him for gold…and he did. Just. That. He punctuated his run with a leftside forward double cork 2160 stalefish grab to steal gold. Forehand said it was the first time he’d tried those tricks in competition. Crazy stuff to say the least.

Finally, the Monster Energy Men’s Ski SuperPipe closed out an awesome weekend in Aspen. David Wise picked up his 5th win in the event, his first since 2018. He had tricks like a switch right 900 lead tail, a right cork 900 lead tail, and a left (and right) double cork 1260 Weddle to snag gold.

Despite the challenges posed by the weather and the high-stakes competition, the athletes were determined to show up with their best performances throughout X Games Aspen 2023. They did not disappoint. The crowds were treated to an unforgettable display of skill, bravery, and determination, making for a truly memorable end to the Games.

Until next year, from Aspen
