As part of our 3 day series on Winter X Games Aspen 2023, we are releasing a recap of each day. Our co-founder and all-around great guy Tyler Corbo joined Chandler With Sports on-site in Aspen, Colorado for the 22nd edition of the Aspen Winter X Games.

Day 2 had everything from bad weather to great competitions. The day started with Colby Stevenson who put together a phenomenal run in the Jeep Men’s Ski Slopestyle. His run included tricks like a backside 360, a switch leftside 270 backslide, a switch rightside double 1260 safety, before he closed out his winning run with a left double 1620 stalefish.

As the day progressed, so did the snow; however, the athletes did not let it affect the competition. If anything, the snow helped the athletes compete at a higher level. In the Monster Energy Snowboard Women’s SuperPipe, 14 year old Gaon Choi from South Korea took home the gold, in her first ever pro event. She is mentored by Chloe Kim, a breakout star of the X Games a few years ago.

As day turned to night, athletes competed in the Monster Energy Women’s Ski SuperPipe. The lights were on, the snow was blowing, and Zoe Atkin took home gold. It was her first medal in an X Games in 4 years. She won the competition with her last run and she was absolutely stunned in her post event press conference.

The main events of the night were Big Air. First, the women took on the jump and put on a great show. Reira Iwabuchi of Japan crafted up the first triple in a women’s snowboard contest. It was a frontside triple underflip frontside grab that you had to see to believe. Zoi Sadowski-Synnott from New Zealand took home silver (her second medal of the weekend) and Laurie Blouin of Canada received the bronze. Blouin landed a triple in one of her runs. It was the third triple landed on the women’s side of the competition, the first three times that has happened.

As the course was prepared for the marquee event of the weekend, Young Gravy took the stage. After his performance, he met up with Selema Masekela, who also opened the broadcast for X Games on Friday after 10 years away (we all missed him, and we’re glad he’s back). They gave the lead-in to the Pacifico Men’s Big Air and the boys did not disappoint. With the likes of Mark McMorris, Yiming Su and Marcus Kleveland, it was an event that deserved to take center stage. Marcus Kleveland scored 49 on his first run, then 47 on his third run and effectively sealed the title after that 47 (and gave a fist bump to our co-founder Tyler Corbo as they crossed paths). Takeru Otsuka took the silver and Yiming Su scored 48 on his final run to get the bronze.

There were unbelievable tricks, sensational runs and a lot of snow. Day 2 had everything a fan could imagine. It might have been cold, but the athletes heated up the course and provided entertainment for everyone in attendance.
